2015 PGA Championship Picks

Another major and little to no research for my picks.  That hasn’t seemed to hurt me so far.  I would have nailed the Open Championship had DJ not had a complete meltdown!  Here we go with the 2015 PGA Championship.

Rory is back in the conversation and says he is healthy coming off of his ankle injury.  I may come to regret it, but I just can pick him for this tournament.  I think he will be rusty and Whistling Straits, like most major tests, is not a place you want to be anything but sharp.  I am going to go with Jordan Spieth, Dustin Johnson, Rickie Fowler, and Bubba Watson as my foursome.  I believe the winner comes out of that group.  As for a dark horse, let’s go with Kevin Na.  Let’s get into the why on these guys.

Jordan Spieth: He again needs no explanation.  He is going for his third major of the year.  he had a good final round at the Bridgestone.  He is on a roll, I am riding the wave until it bucks me.

Dustin Johnson: He has some major mental scar tissue going on right now.  He is the one person that I still think can block it out.  His game has been solid all year except for two rounds at the Old Course.  He has a history of being in contention here.  Oh, and they covered up the bunker where his infamous rules infraction occurred!  All good karma!

Rickie Fowler: He will win a major, period.  His game is solid and I look for him to continue to be in contention.

Bubba Watson: His creativity plays well around this track.  He will bomb it out there like he always does and has a big advantage over most of the field.  He is best when he is engaged and I like the chances that he is focused this week.

Kevin Na:  Solid player all around and seems to always be near the top of the leaderboard.  I like his straight tee shots and ability to play target golf.

I don’t like to trash the PGA like a lot of people.  It counts just as much as the other majors and don’t let anyone tell you different.  No one is saying Tiger only has 10 majors.  Let’s gear up and enjoy the 2015 PGA Championship!

  1. Great picks, Jimmy. Someone I really like this week that isn’t on your list is Jason Day. I like his chances, plus I find it really easy to pull for him.

And for an interesting side bet – Tiger makes or misses the cut? I say makes, but barely.

    Cheers
    Josh
