CBS Golf Coverage

First off, I want to say how thankful I was to see golf back on TV via CBS Golf at Colonial.  They pulled off the telecast of the Charles Schwab Challenge with a limited crew and it appeared they had a good amount of social distancing going on.

Ok, now that I’ve gotten that out, I have to address the problems with the coverage.

For starters, the announcers talk far too much!  I don’t have a problem with the number of announcers just how much they say.  Nick Faldo is always going on about something.  Many of the others were also talking over player-caddie conversations.  This was a shame since the conversations are much easier to pick up with no fans.

The next thing they need to tackle is the amount of golf they show.  I understand the need for commercials and the need to pay the bills.  But when your on the golf that is all I want to see.  Make the golf the focus and go from there.

I don’t think there will ever be a telecast that everyone loves but we deserve so much better than this.  CBS Golf is the worst of the major networks but they are also showing the most tournaments.  As the leading network, they need to do better.

For us hardcore golf fans out there, we want to hear as much as we can from the players and caddies.  Don’t tell me what I can see on the screen and show me as much golf as possible.  It really shouldn’t be this hard.
