It’s probably one of the greatest feelings in golf aside from winning on a major tour. It is a thrill for pros and amateurs alike because of the sheer luck and odds that play into the event. Anyone from young to old, male or female, beginner or pro can experience this thrill. Of course, I’m talking about the hole-in-one!
Everyone that I know, myself included, that has one can recite the story as if it happened yesterday. I know my story like the back of my hand. I was playing at the University Club in Columbia, South Carolina. A fun fact is that this course is affiliated with the arch-rival of my beloved Clemson Tigers. This made my ace a little sweeter. Anyway, the hole was playing 187 yards that day and slightly downhill. There wasn’t much benefit from the slope since it was early morning and the air was heavy. I hit an easy three iron and I kid you not, the ball hit one foot behind the hole and one-hopped in the jar. I consider myself lucky that I could see the entire flight of the ball. It was a very cool moment that I will always treasure.
I would love to hear some of your hole-in-one stories, so please share them in the comments or email me at tigergolftraveler@gmail.com
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone and get out and play some golf if you can!
Great story! Unfortunately, I don’t have a hole-in-one story of my own to share yet, but WHEN it happens, I’ll be sure to share it! Many close calls…it’s only a matter of time.
Cheers!
Josh
Keep plugging! There’s nothing like it!
