A little while ago, CAG Golf reached out to me to see if I would be interested in doing a review of one of their putters. After looking over their website, I was happy to try out the blade model.
CAG Golf is focusing on direct to consumer sales through their website. Their goals revolve around utilizing technology in their products and keeping the cost reasonable for golfers. I can certainly get behind those pursuits.
Over the years, I have rarely switched putters. In fact, I’ve only played with 4 or 5 since I started playing golf. The opportunity to try something new was still intriguing.
One of the first things I noticed about the putter was the alignment aid. It was wider than what I’m used to. This unique feature is known as SVA Sightline and has a patent pending.
Putter Test
I tried all different types of putts for about 30-45 minutes at my club. I wanted to see how the putter performed on a variety of slopes and lengths.
The first thing I noticed was how the ball came off the face of the putter. It came off pretty hot which made it easy to get the ball to the hole on long putts. Also, I didn’t find it hard to control on the shorter putts. Overall, a good combination.
The other thing I noticed was the sound of the hit. It’s definitely a bit louder than some putters on the market. However, it didn’t take away from the performance or put me off in any way. Just something to be aware of for your personal preferences.
The only thing I didn’t like was the shaft bend towards the putter head. This is more of a personal preference because I like the shaft to be as straight as possible. This model has a pronounced bend in the shaft.
Final Thoughts
Sometimes with affordable golf equipment, you aren’t getting great quality. I can say the CAG Golf 33Five-BD putter performed quite well for a piece that retails for less than $125. All in all, a very solid putter that I’m sure many golfers would have success with. So check them out!
