In 2014, Brendon Todd won the Byron Nelson Classic. Three years later after making a swing change, he was basically off the tour and in the depths of the full swing yips.
This is the stuff that golf nightmares are made of. It had gotten to the point where other options of making a living were discussed. A true low point for any professional golfer.
After reading a book by Bradley Hughes, who happens to be our home club’s teaching pro, he started to see the light. After working together, Todd started to make some cuts and got his status back for this year through the Korn Ferry Tour Finals.
In addition, he sought out Rick Ankiel and Ward Jarvis. Ankiel is the former major league pitcher who overcame throwing yips. Jarvis is a Korn Ferry Tour caddie who overcame a stuttering problem.
In these two men, Brendon Todd found people that had gotten past something that is rooted in the mind. Combine their help with Hughes retraining his body and you have a recipe for a remarkable turnaround. In the last two events, Todd has won twice at the Bermuda Championship and Mayakoba Golf Classic! Congrats Brendon Todd!
