I was visiting New Hampshire again this past August for a short time to be a part of my father’s wedding. It was a very happy occasion and something I was glad to be a part of with him.
Since the trip was short and golf was not the main focus, I didn’t work too hard to plan anything too special from a golf course standpoint. But, thanks to Southwest’s free bags policy I did take my clubs.
I set up a round at Breakfast Hill Golf Club with my buddy Ira who lives in New Hampshire. I probably hadn’t played Breakfast Hill since it opened in 2000. At that time, I remember it being very firm and not quite grown in.
Upon my second go around the course, it is quite clear that it has matured a bit and the ground has softened. This was even more so the case due to some recent rain in the area.
The course provides most of its challenge by requiring precision. As you can tell from the stats above, the course is quite short. You must keep your drives straight or trees will block you from the greens.
The greens are a whole other set of challenges. They are on the small side for the most part and missing can result in some serious consequences.
Overall the course is a fun romp through the trees. If you can keep your ball in play a good score is well within reach. But if you spray the ball the strokes will add up quickly.
Below is a picture of the seventeenth hole, which was the most picturesque in my opinion.
