I started my annual summer visit to New England at Warwick Country Club. Warwick was founded in 1924 by fifty members who engaged Donald Ross for nine holes. Years later Geoffrey Cornish added another nine holes.
Warwick’s location on the water results in frequent winds that add challenge to the course. While it may look short on the scorecard, the wind and par of 69 make it play plenty difficult.
I’ve mentioned that I am giving myself some grace with having to capture every hole and shot on some of my course tours. Warwick fits into that category. As such, I’m going to provide a gallery of the photos I captured. This should give you an idea of what the course is about and provide a sense of the place.
Warwick Country Club was a delightful course to play and walk. The interesting land movement and green complexes coupled with the location and ever-present winds kept me engaged throughout the round. Rhode Island is a small state but I’ve been overjoyed with the golf I’ve experienced there.
