I’ll get real with y’all for a minute. My anxiety during the whole COVID-19 pandemic is through the roof.
I’m still playing golf but am making sure to practice social distancing and I always have my hand sanitizer with me.
I think the reason I feel this way is because of how my state is dealing with COVID-19. South Carolina is seeing a spike in the number of cases and other states are starting to take notice, notably the Tri-States requiring SC residents (among others) to quarantine upon arrival.
Justin Thomas called out Hilton Head last week after visiting for the PGA Tour stop. He saw restaurants packed and no one seeming to take the virus seriously. It’s all very disappointing.
As I see it, this is not a political issue at all. I truly understand the need to re-open businesses. But, like JT, I am seeing a severe lack of people wearing masks and practicing social distancing. It’s maddening. These easy steps are very high on the list of recommended actions to stop the spread of this virus. Instead, SC and other states, seem content to let cases spike resulting in unnecessary stress on the healthcare system.
I pray that this gets better in the future but when people blatantly disregard recommendations from healthcare professionals, it’s hard to see it happening.
I’m ready to get back to normal, so do your damn part. Wear a mask when you go inside, practice social distancing, don’t touch your face, and wash your hands often!
